1933 Ford Sedan
Gainesville, GA

This article features Jerry Riley and his 1933 Ford Tudor. He is from Gainsville, GA, where he still lives with his wife Sheila. Jerry is retired from the Moen Faucet Company and now has more time for street rodding. Jerry and his wife participate in cruise-ins and car shows in Western North Carolina and Northeast Georgia. They also have a ’49 Willy’s Jeepster and a ’66 Ford Mustang that were restored to original and may make one of our future articles.

The car is a 1933 Ford Tudor and was built in Gainesville by Phil Davis with help from Jerry. The engine is a 350 ci Chevy with a mild hydraulic cam and an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold fitted with an Edelbrock 600cfm 4-barrell carburetor. A Chevrolet electronic ignition system for power and reliability were used in place of the original Ford system. The exhaust is through a set of Sanderson Block Hugger Headers exiting through a custom made dual exhaust system. The car uses a reworked turbo 350 Chevy automatic transmission and power is put to the road through a Ford 9-inch differential with 3:60 gears. The engine is putting out about 300 horsepower and is covered in chrome and aluminum .

The TCI front suspension system is designed like a Mustang II independent suspension which delivers a smoother and more controlled steering ride for the ’28 – ’34 Fords. Information on TCI suspensions can be found online at totalcostinvolved.com. This system allows for disc brakes on the front of these street rods while still using drum brakes on the rear, which Jerry has done. American Racing Aluminum wheels with BF Goodrich P195X70R14 tires on the front and P235X70R15 tires on the rear.

The interior has a pair of Tan Leather after market custom build Glide brand bucket seats in the front, with a bench seat in the rear. All the emblems and door handles were removed, holes filled and the suicide doors were converted to open electronically. The paint is a DuPont brand Cranberry that was painted by Phil. The car took about a year to complete and has about 22,000 miles on it. Jerry has been a car enthusiast since high school and enjoys working on project cars.
